Spay & Neuter
APPOINTMENT- Mammary tumors (females)
- Uterine infections (females)
- Heat cycles (females)
- Testicular cancer (males)
- Aggressive behavior (males)
- Spraying/marking (males)
- Roaming (males)
When should you have the procedure performed? Pets come in all different shapes and sizes, so the exact age recommendation for spaying and neutering is dependent on the breed. Typically, we recommend that these procedures be performed no sooner than 8 weeks of age (as long as your pet is healthy) and no later than 6 months (before the first heat cycle for females).
Performing these surgeries before 6 months of age can reduce the risk of post-surgical complications that could occur for pets older than 6 months. When you bring your puppy or kitten into our hospital for their first exam, we can let you know at what age we recommend the procedure to be performed.
Your pet's safe with us.
